There are lots of terms on the market that describe the type of hair on a wig. You’ll hear the terms synthetic, remy, and virgin hair.

Remy hair is often known as the top quality hair you can buy. It’s largely popular because it is 100% human hair and because of its affordability. A wig made of remy hair can simply be called a human hair wig, without advertising the compromising qualities of such a wig.

This is why we are proud to advertise our Freeda wigs, made of %100 virgin European hair. Don’t be duped by wigs that boast 100% Human hair.

So what makes our wigs so unique? Why is a virgin human hair wig so different than a remy human hair wig?

 Virgin hair

Virgin hair is chemically unprocessed human hair. The virgin hair has not been altered by dyes, perms, bleaches or harsh washes. The hair has its cuticles intact and roots and tips all run in the same direction. Virgin human hair is the top quality hair available.

 Remy Hair 

Remy hair is not virgin hair, even though it IS human hair. Remy hair is hair that could be processed with dyes or other chemicals. This hair has both the roots and the tips mixed up so that all the hairs are not running in the same direction. The cuticles are stripped off the hair and coated with a chemical process.

This hair will have a shelf life; eventually the hair will look dull and lifeless.

Since both Remy hair and Virgin European hair both are 100% natural human hair, it’s easy to get fooled about the quality you are purchasing.

Virgin hair is more precious and has no shelf life. As long as you treat the hair well and maintain it, it will last for many years. Your Freeda wig will be with you a long time. We are proud of the wigs we make that help women all over feel and look beautiful.
